Staycation Idea - Gardening

If you don’t garden already, take a look in your yard and you’re sure to find a perfectly suitable spot to use. Gardening can be very therapeutic, help you be one with the earth, and afford you some culinary treasures. Get your knees dirty with kids and plant vegetables, herbs and fruit, or even some flowers to make your backyard full of color.

Staycation Idea - Watch Home Movies

This can be an awesome addition to an otherwise boring day at home. If you have a camcorder laying around the house, it may be fun to take it out once in a while. You can organize plots and parts and props with your family, or you can just candidly film around the house. It’s always fun to use your imagination, and it’s nice to have some family videos to look back on later.

Staycation Tip - Fun family games

 Break out the games

You can definitely have a perfectly entertaining time at home with your family playing games. Staycation Idea - Slip and Slide

Not everyone lives near a towering park of waterslides, and not everyone owns a swimming pool or lives near a lake. There is still hope for these people and their families, with the one and only Slip-and-Slide. If you can’t buy one in a store, find a long piece of rubbery, slippery fabric that you can stretch across your yard. Use a hose to generate some water flow and see who can get the fastest slide!

Staycation Idea - Backyard Sports

Backyard Sports
Some backyards can’t host the true American sports like football and baseball, but there are sports more attuned to the backyard space. Games involving rackets and nets can be great additions to the backyard, staycation experience. The more people you can get over the house the merrier. Forget about your life for a while as you delve into a rousing game of badminton or volleyball.

Staycation Idea - Backyard BBQ

The Best BBQ - Right in your Backyard

You can really kill that boring, monotonous lunch and dinner routine by breaking out the meat and grill. Make some sauces, marinate some cuts, and cook ‘em on low as you relax in the backyard barbecuing with friends and family. Outdoor dining events are social events, and whoever may be attending will almost always have a good time. If the weather permits it, throwing a big BBQ could be the best decision you’ve ever made.

Staycation Idea - Vacation by the Pool

Staycation by the Pool

Even when we go on destination vacations, we find ourselves taking a load off by the hotel pool, and some of us have one in our very own home. If you don’t have a pool, chances are you know someone who does. And if it’s a nice day outside, chances are they’re laying by the pool, and may not mind you or your family stopping by to relax for a great staycation.
